Debola Akinsanya aka GidisDrummerBoy is a You Tube sensation. The talented drummer has viral videos of him covering hit songs from Nigeria and abroad. With hopes of getting much better, Debola has only been drumming for two years, yet he has covered songs by Linkin Park, Da Grin and Cold Play.

 ‘I hope that one day I will be able to play the more complicated stuff, but I know I’ll get there soon. It's all about practice practice and more practice’, he said.

‘My favourite genres are Naija and all kinds of rock… not really a fan of metal but most metal drummers are quite sick and I admire them and aspire to be able to do what they do… I also want to develop the independence and coordination needed for jazz playing, especially bebop.’

He cites Neil Peart, Luke Alejo, Samson Imoh, Victor Ogwems, Steve Gadd, Thomas Lang, Mike Portnoy, Andrew Hurley, Zac Farro, Dave Weckl, Danny Carey, Stanton Moore, Cobus Potgieter and Matt Helders  as some of his influences. Below are his cover videos.
