Nollywood To Debut At The Birmingham Black International Film Festival

This month, Nollywood will make her debut at the 5th Edition of the Birmingham Black International Film Festival, which holds from October 25 -29. The festival recognises and appreciates the works of people of black heritage.

Kunle Aderemi, the festival’s coordinator, said that Nollywood deserves recognition especially by the Black diaspora community in the UK. The awards categories consist of Best Nollywood Actor, Best Nollywood Actress and Best Nollywood Film with nominees including actresses Uche Jombo, Rukky Sanda, Ini Edo and Funke Akindele

The awards ceremony will be preceded by a four-day film screening, which will be held at The Drum, Birmingham, after which the awards ceremony, will take place at The International Convention Centre (ICC), on the last day of the festival.

Jimmy Akingbola, who plays Dr. Malik in the popular British soap, Holby City, and Jacqui Joseph of Living TV, will be the hosts for the events, while Adewale Ayuba & Sammi Okposo will make special guest appearances at the events.
